What is a Quarter Cup Bra & Shelf Bra.

What are the differences between Quarter Cup Bras, Shelf Bras & Half Cup Bras

There is a lot of confusion regarding the differences between quarter cup, half cup and shelf bras. Although they are all very similar each style offers minimal breast coverage while the underwire design supports only the underside portion of the breast.

Half Cup Bras
Offering the most coverage of all three styles the half cup bra is just as it sounds, half a cup. Do not get this style confused with a demi cup bra which covers just above the nipple and pushes up from the sides.

Quarter Cup Bras
The quarter cup bra leaves very little to the imagination with almost no cup at all. We find that these bras are not suited for women with larger busts as there is no support for the breast.

Shelf Bras
Are just padded underwire bras.
The breasts are supported by a small shelf.
Sometimes shelf bras are also referred to as open cup bras

We have found that most of the confusion is causes by the lingerie manufacturer calling items that are shelf bras - quarter cup bras,  calling half cup - shelf bras and even still others call shelf bras - open cup bras.
Hope this help you find the style you are looking for.
